Why the Turtle?

I chose the turtle to represent my practice because it embodies qualities of resilience, grounding, and flow that deeply resonate with both my personal journey and my therapeutic approach. Throughout my life, turtles have appeared during pivotal moments, symbolizing guidance, wisdom, and transformation. From the tattoo on my foot to the pet turtles I’ve cared for, they hold a profound personal significance. The turtle also serves as a metaphor for the human experience. Its shell represents safety and protection, a reminder of the inner sanctuary we all carry. The head symbolizes awareness and mindfulness, guiding us as we navigate life. The front limbs reflect our ability to reach outward—our relationships, aspirations, and creativity—while the hind legs ground us in stability, connection, and the past that shapes us. Together, these elements remind us of the importance of integrating all parts of ourselves to move forward with purpose and balance. The ocean, the turtle’s home, mirrors the therapeutic process. Like the currents, life’s challenges can push and pull us, but with guidance and trust, we can learn to flow with them rather than resist. In therapy, we explore these currents together, finding strength and direction in the journey toward healing and self-discovery.
